Electrician: Signs of a Good One

Electrician Brisbane 24 hours replace or install power points, light switches, fans, lights, ovens, cooktops, range hoods, safety switches, smoke alarms. As you get bids for your next electrical project and interview contractors and companies you are considering for the job, how can you know which electrician is the best choice? You know that you should not make the decision based on cost alone, as you need a quality contractor when you are working with electricity. One way to narrow down your list is to look for these signs that you have found a good electrician.

First, a good contractor of any sort will have a professional business card, usually with a company name on it. The business card will also have the license number, providing that the individual is, in fact, licensed to do the work. Always ask for a card. Similarly, a qualified contractor will be willing to provide references and insurance certificates if you ask for them. However, this is a bit of a hassle, so avoid asking for these if you are hiring someone for a quick and easy task. If you are doing a large project, however, ask for these qualifications.

When you call a quality electrician, you may not get the contractor directly, as the best contractors are usually out in the field working. However, you should get a quick response to the call. If you are not called back within 24 hours, consider choosing a different individual.

Choose an individual who is able to quickly provide you with an estimate. When they come to your home to do the estimate, they should give some details about the way in which they will tackle the project. This gives you some insight into how they work and the safety measures they take.

The best electrician will never cut corners, even if you ask him to. Professionals always work to code and keep things safe. If you have a budgetary constraint, a quality contractor will find a way to rework the solution so that it comes within budget, but without cutting any safety or compliance corners. Similarly, the best individuals will insist on taking out the necessary permits to do the job within the bounds of the law.

Understanding the marks of a good electrician will be one of the most helpful tools you can have when hiring one for your next big project. Once you have worked with a qualified contractor, keep his or her contact information stored away safely, so you will always have somewhere to turn when you need electrical work done in the future.

Stress Free Family Skiing Holidays

Thanks to our early wake-up call during our ski Canada, we were at the front of the queue for the opening of the Sun Peaks lifts. There is nothing as special as a family holiday. A family holiday is an opportunity not just to have a break but also to create memories that become part of your history. As family holidays go, there are few that can offer the variety, fun and excitement of a family skiing holiday. Some people worry that skiing may be too stressful for families but this isn’t at all true. Family skiing holidays can be really joyous and stress free as long as you take one simple precaution – prepare in advance.

If you prepare properly for your skiing holiday you can have a wonderful, stress free, fun-filled time on the slopes. All the energy you put into the planning and preparation will be repaid by happy, entertained kids and relaxed, engaged adults. Doesn’t that sound like a stress-free family holiday? Let’s have a look at the main areas that need your attention before you go on holiday.

Where

OK first things first. Here are some questions you might ask yourself when planning your stress free family skiing holiday.

  • Where would we like to go?
  • How long will it take to fly there?
  • Is the transfer from the airport to the resort lengthy? A long bus journey immediately after a long flight has the potential to turn the calmest family into screaming lunatics – avoid if possible!
  • Is the resort family friendly?
  • Does it have facilities for children?

However, the number one question you need to ask in advance is this – how far do we need to walk? Even if you have to compromise on other things, find a resort where the ski lift or ski school is – for preference – within easy walking distance from your accommodation. Don’t forget you and your children will have to trudge around in heavy ski boots carrying skis and so you won’t want to go too far. At the very least make sure that the accommodation you choose has a ski bus stop close by.

What to Bring

Realise you are going on holidays with children and plan accordingly. If you, as adults, have ever lost your gloves or your goggles or even more expensive bits of equipment then you should understand why it is that the average kid will probably lose everything not tied onto him or her!

So whenever possible – bring extras.

If your little darlings turn out to be the most careful children on the planet there’ll be no harm done. You can gift wrap the extra gloves or goggles and make them as presents to the next family you know who might be planning on a skiing holiday!

On the other hand, if you don’t bring any extras and instead have to replace things at the resort where, it’s likely they’ll be charging top dollar for everything, then you might be peeved to say the least.

So, what should you bring?

Bring comfy clothes suitable for playing and, if possible, two sets of ski clothes. A lot of the time children will end up wearing their ski clothes all day and you won’t need much else – apart from pyjamas. If you don’t want to buy two sets of clothes you may be able to rent some at the resort – check it out.

Woolly Tights. Even for boys. It can be very cold on the slopes and nobody need know what’s on underneath…

Properly fitted gloves that will stay on and spare gloves for playing in the snow.

Waterproof footwear. Waterproof shoes and boots can be expensive and probably won’t fit the kids if you go skiing again next year so maybe you can find bargains on the internet? Or even borrow some just from family or friends?

Sunglasses with high UV protection for everyone – even babies.

Sunscreen. The fact that the weather is cold in the mountains doesn’t mean the sun isn’t strong – it really is very, very strong and you need to buy the highest SPF you can find – and of course then you need to use it!

Toys, games, movies, books, family games – anything you think will help you entertain yourselves in the evening during your holiday.

Surfing and The Surfer`s Paradise

Expect to see plenty of theatrical tricks during surf contest in Australia. The south of Bali island is faced the hindi ocean, it has sprung up along the spectacular beaches, furthermore, the combination of large offshore reefs and shaped coastline have made this region a genuine surfer`s paradise. You can find perfect wave on these beautiful beaches:

– Medewi Beach @ Negara- Balian Beach @ Tabanan- Pererenan Beach @ Tabanan- Canggu Beach @ Canggu- Peti Tenget Beach @ Kerobokan- Legian Beach @ Kuta- Kuta Beach @ Kuta- Kuta reef @ Kuta- Airport Left @ Airport Tuban- Airport Rights @ Airport Tuban- Jimbaran Beach @ Jimbaran- Balangan Beach @ Bukit Balangan- Dreamland Beach @ Bukit Pecatu- Bingin Beach @ Bukit- Padang-padang Beach @ Bukit- Uluwatu Beach @ Bukit Uluwatu- Nyang-nyang Beach @ Bukit- Batu Pageh Beach @ Batu Pageh- Nusa Dua Beach @ Nusa Dua- samuh Beach @ Nusa Dua- Serangan Beach @ Serangan Island- Semawang Beach @ Sanur- Tanjung sari Beach @ Sanur- Sanur Beach @ sanur- Padang Galak Beach @ Sanur- Ketewel Beach @ Batubulan- Keramas Beach @ Gianyar- Lebih Beach @ Gianyar- Padang Bai Beach @ Padang Bai – Lembongan Beach @ Lembongan Island

What are the rules for surfing? here are basic knowledge before you wax your surfing board.

Know your Skill and AbilityThis is the first thing you should realize. You have to know how good you are at a wave riding and your physical strength (the power your arm and back muscle to paddle out and the important is your ability to hold breath during the rinse cycle time in a bad wipe out)

Know the EnvironmentSimple tips for you to know the environment is, better ask the locals about the surf break, where is the paddle out point and paddle in point, bottom contour and natural hazard. Please really concern to the latter, you do not want to end up tangled in bull kelp, skimming along beside a shark or heading out to sea on a rip. Do not panic, anytime when you caught in it.

Throw or Hold? Know when to hold onto your surfboard and when to get rid of it. If you are paddling out then keep hold of your board, you will get out back to the line up more quickly and you will not put anyone paddling out behind you at risk. If you are about to wipe out then get ride of your board. You are far more likely to sustain an injury if you and your board getting washed together, but if you really need to bail from your board, check your tail and make sure that there is no one behind you before you bail and try to keep your board parallel to the beach, to minimize the risk of snapping it because of the impact from the wave`s lip.

The most hated thing by surfer, always remember! that you are not taking anyone`s wave. Surfer who is closest the wave has the priority.

So guys, please make sure the rules and the fun, you won`t get trouble while you are surfing, are you?

Swimming Pool Warranty Pit Falls and How to Avoid Them!

Do you want to get rid of a nasty swimming pool? Consider it done for our pool removal Sydney. When shopping for In Ground swimming pools, one important consideration is the warranty. Most folks simply ask, “What is the warranty!” They then take the sales person at their word. I say dig deeper. Don’t just ask to look at a copy, have them print a copy for you to take home. Secondly, take it home and spend a few minutes to read and think about it.

Remember, there are multiple warranties running simultaneously. You have the Equipment warranty which consists of; (Pump, Filter, Heater, Chlorinator or Salt System.) The warranty on pool equipment is backed by a manufacturer. The labor warranty is backed by the builder. Finally, the pool shell or structure warranty can be backed by the builder or a manufacturer. The pool vessel or structure is the biggest portion and expense of the project.

Let’s start with pool equipment. Almost all pool equipment is the same. If a builder spends too much time talking about pumps, it’s probably because his other products, like his pool, is lacking something. Most equipment pads come with a three year warranty, some things are extended to ten years but these items rarely need replacing. Make sure all equipment on the pad is from one manufacturer. The pump, filter, heater, chlorinator, or salt system, should be from the same manufacturer. Make sure there are proper warranty stations. Ask for a list of authorized warranty service stations. Make sure that the parts for the equipment pad are easily purchased at your local pool store, so after the warranty runs out you can purchase parts. Seals and gaskets are considered wear items and are usually not covered, so it needs to be convenient for you to get replacement parts. Never get products that can only be serviced by the builder, this will hold you hostage. That is enough about the pool equipment and as you can see there is a little more to your due diligence than just simply asking the question, what is the warranty?

When shopping in the swimming pool market there are many considerations on warranties. Fiberglass pools differ from concrete pools. With concrete pools the majority of your purchase goes to labor salaries. A very small part goes to the product. With Fiberglass, it is the opposite. The majority of your dollars goes to the product and a small amount to labor. So what does this mean? The warranty that the sales person vaguely represents is as good as the company that backs it. You can’t make a good deal with a bad guy or a bad company. Most in ground concrete/Gunite or Fiberglass swimming pool companies, even if part of a large franchise organization, are mom and pop shops. What does this mean to the future of the pool owner? It means if the warranty is backed by the builder, when the builder is gone so is your warranty. It also means if the builder is in financial trouble of having a lean year he will refuse to cover it. Read some of the complaints on some of the blogs and complaint driven web sites. You can hear the underlying tones of sorry, we just don’t have money to fix our mistakes.

Now I can hear the salesperson in the presentation, telling you they will be around forever, and it’s the best, and we will take care of you. In our current society, legally binding contracts and agreements are meaningless unless backed by some one of integrity. Think about it, Lehman Brothers went bankrupt and is gone. They built the railroads and infrastructure for the United States. General Motors went bankrupt and had it not been for the bail out, it would be gone. The fact is, second generation business have a ninety percent failure rate. The Harvard Business review article says; The data support the saying, some 70% of family-owned businesses fail or are sold before the second generation gets a chance to take over. Just 10% remain active for privately held companies for the third generation to lead. In contrast to publicly owned firms, in which the average CEO tenure is six years, many family businesses have the same leaders for 20 or 25 years, and these extended tenures can increase the difficulties of coping with shifts in technology, business models, and consumer behavior. http://hbr.org/2012/01/avoid-the-traps-that-can-destroy-family-businesses/ar/1

So the truth of the matter is that most small businesses will not be around that long statistically speaking. Corporations and specifically publicly traded Corporations will be around longer based on the study quoted above and statistics. So now we have established that a publicly held Corporately backed warranty will most likely be around the longest, and be the easiest for a consumer to use. Not only does a corporations warranty have better backing, you don’t have to deal with the builders attitudes. Remember, every dollar of a builder backed warranty comes directly out of the builders pocket. It’s in the best interest of the builders pocket book not to fix the consumers issue. No, we also know long term this type of corrupt mentality will destroy the builders business in the long run. In a perfect world this would not happen. But it does happen, just research internet complaint history on some of today’s so called reputable builders. Corporate officers are usually held to a higher standard, and well educated. Corporate mentality exists for long term results as well as short term gain. They are accountable to the share holders for short term profits as well as the end user for long term growth. It’s obvious that a warranty backed by a stable, publicly traded corporation is better than individual or builder backed warranties.

Charities Don’t Need Our Money

My issues with charities started many decades ago, long before the Internet, when I was having an informal chat with the president of one of the most well-known charities. I had just made a donation in honor of a loved one and I asked this man how much of our donations go to the cause. He told me 90% goes for administrative costs and 10% goes to the cause. Not everyone can deduct their charitable contributions, however you can donate to have an advantage with charity donation tax deduction.

I was horrified. His explanation was that they spend so much money on advertising that the 10% that reaches the cause, is more than they would have taken in without them. That breakdown felt so wrong, that I never donated to that cause again. Nowadays, you can see the breakdown of expenses of all the organizations on Google before you donate to one.

My next issue with charities was with a nonprofit organization that was supposed to use volunteers to help children who came from broken homes deal with their problems. They were supposed to be with the assigned child a certain number of hours, once a week, and talk about what was going on in their lives. I used to send some of my clients to this organization to volunteer their services.

Unfortunately, the organization was poorly run and the volunteers had disappointing experiences. One of my clients was used to tutor children with their schoolwork and another client was cast in the role of playing the good uncle who took his assigned child to various entertainments that cost a lot of money. None of the volunteers felt their time was well spent.

But, most of all, I sent clients to these nonprofit organizations to raise money for them. We’re always hearing that these organizations are in short supply of donations, so I’ve sent several very qualified professional people to offer their services, free of charge.

One of the organizations wanted my client to get money from her company. They didn’t want her to go to other companies for donations; it was either the company she worked for, or nothing, and they never got back to her.

Another of my clients called lots of charities offering to do fundraising for them, free of charge, to companies that had never been approached. No one called her back and she ended up raising a lot of money, for a different charity, for the company she works for.
